HOW IT WORKS
Go Green in the City 2019 is open to two-member teams from anywhere in the world.
To take part, you must:
Be a Bachelor’s (at least 2nd year) or Master’s student
Studying Engineering, Business, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics and other Sciences
Location: worldwide
(Team members must be studying in the same Region for the duration of the competition.)
At least one team member must be a woman, in line with our Diversity & Inclusion philosophy.
Be proficient in English (the Grand Finale pitch will be presented in English.)
TIMELINE & GUIDELINE
1) APPLICATION PHASE
2nd January - 25th May 2019 (20 weeks)
Create your account, team up with a friend, or find a teammate through the competition platform! (Please note: both teammates must be studying in the same Region.) Choose a competition category to work on with your teammate and submit your case when you are ready. It’s as easy as that!
Don’t have a teammate? Don’t worry! You can publish your profile with an introductory video and your skills inviting other students to join you on your bold project. Click here to find out more!
Deliverables: PowerPoint Presentation of 10 slides including problem statement, differentiation, operational availability, team profile, etc. to be submitted by 25th May 2019, 23:59 (UCT +0).
REGIONAL SEMI-FINALS
2nd January - 25th May 2019 (3 weeks)
Online selection of up to 70 teams (10 - 15 teams chosen per Region) by Schneider Electric regional juries based on the following criteria: innovativeness, feasibility, presentation quality and sustainable impact.

2) MENTORING PHASE
19 June - 23 August 2019 (8 weeks)
The selected teams will be mentored by Schneider Electric experts via the competition platform. With the mentors’ advice and insight into the company, teams will be able to develop their ideas and polish their proposals
Deliverables: PowerPoint of up to 20 slides expanding on previous submission with any additional appendices to be submitted by 23rd August 2019, 23:59 (UCT +0).
REGIONAL FINALS
19 June - 23 August 2019 (8 weeks)
The juries from Schneider Electric’s offices will be selecting the best project from each region for the Grand Finale in Spain. The Regional Finals will either be virtual (online selection by judging criteria and company-wide vote) and for some regions, there will be a live event with the opportunity for each team to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges.

The winners of the Women in Energy Award automatically progress to the Grand Finale and teams who impress the juries might progress as ‘Wildcards'.

3) PREPARATION PHASE
29 August - 28 September (4 weeks)
Once the final 8 teams have been announced, mentoring by Schneider Electric will continue. Teams will have a few weeks to practice and perfect their pitch before flying off to the Schneider Electric Global Innovation Summit in Spain!
Deliverables: Pitch deck of up to 20 slides to be submitted by 28th September 2019, 23:59 (UCT +0).
4) GRAND FINALE
1 - 5 October (2019)
Our top teams are invited to attend the Schneider Electric Innovation Summit in Barcelona!
This is your chance to shine and be bold! Each team will have the chance to pitch their business idea in a 15-minutes presentation followed by 5 minutes of Q&A with the jury made up Schneider Electric’s senior management. The top teams will be selected on the following criteria: feasibility, profitability, solution innovation and sustainable impact.
